Sometime late March, 2020, under the stress of shelter at home and the looming threat of COVID-19, I decided to revisit my love for songwriting, and recruited some of Chicago’s most talented musicians to figure out how we could bring one particular song to life from remote locations. The project started out as a challenge to continue creating and collaboratively under social distancing restrictions, but evolved into much more as the world we were working in was turned upside down by the sequential police killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery. TIME is meant to capture the turbulence of the climate in which it was created. The project was featured as one of the top 10 new songs in the New York Times during its release week, as well as in the Chicago Reader, WGN News and on Vocalo Radio. TIME is my first-ever music composition, and is now available on all streaming platforms (via Johari Noelle).
